🏢 Multifamily housing plays a critical role in California’s transition to clean electricity, but high upfront costs, electrical infrastructure challenges, and limited technical support can make electrification difficult.

How can we help property owners overcome these barriers and make the transition more affordable and accessible?

📖 This week’s spotlight features the Preparing to Electrify Summary, which explores how planning ahead and phasing upgrades over time can help reduce costs, avoid unnecessary electrical upgrades, and better prepare buildings for future electrification.

Join GreenHomeNYC during Climate Week for a retrospective on Superstorm Sandy, exploring how the New York City metro area was forever changed by an unprecedented disaster. Fourteen years ago, the region faced the harsh reality of its vulnerability to extreme weather, sparking massive recovery efforts like the Build It Back program to repair neighborhoods and fortify infrastructure.

Expert speakers will break down the storm's impact across specific neighborhoods and individual buildings, evaluating the repairs and preventative measures implemented since.

The conversation will also examine the broader landscape of climate funding and government intervention required to safeguard NYC's future against escalating climate threats.

This August, staff from our Bronx and Emeryville offices came together at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Conference to share ideas, learn from one another, and present the work we’re doing in energy efficiency.

It was great to have both coasts represented and to see our teams working together, sharing their experiences, and learning from one another. We’re proud of the work we do to support our communities in the transition to a more energy-efficient, sustainable, and resilient future. 💡🌱🤝

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the CalMTA Room Heat Pump (RHPs) Market Transformation Initiative!!

As California moves toward its decarbonization goals, RHPs will be a critical solution to provide cooling for small single-family and multifamily homes as well as supplanting inefficient gas and electric resistance space heating.

We are looking forward to undertaking this important work with CalMTA and our partners Energy Solutions and Slipstream to advance this market sector and commercialization of room heat pumps. CalMTA is a program of the California Public Utilities Commission and is administered by Resource Innovations.
