Pinoy Construction’s Story
What started as an idea became a reality for Ben Teston in 1992. The proud and ambitious Filipino entrepreneur was finally ready to launch his own business; Pinoy Construction. His small organization started with only four employees in Harrisburg, Illinois. In the early 1990’s, Pinoy Construction was completing small scaled residential projects in the local area of Saline County. During this time, Pinoy was celebrating its largest project around $7,000.
Today, Pinoy Construction has grown into one of the largest minority subcontracting firms in Southern Illinois. The company’s scope has grown tremendously as it has transformed from completing small residential contracts to large government contracts. Pinoy currently employs over 30 workers and has broadened it focus to the larger Southern Illinois area. In 2017, Pinoy Construction celebrated the completion of its largest subcontracted project to date. This project entailed building added lanes on Rt. 45 in Eldorado, Illinois which generated over $1,000,000 for Pinoy Construction.
Ben Teston attributes the growth of his business to being persistent and discipline. He continues to hold a humble attitude as he watched his company grow slowly over time after learning from mistakes. This proud owner is excited for 2018 as he hopes to land more government contracts. He also plans extend the company’s outreach and once again find bigger residential and commercial contracts.
