Got the opportunity to fix up my high school history teacher’s Jeep, and honestly, this one hit a little different.
Someone had previously just tacked a plate over a pretty major rusted area, basically hiding the problem instead of fixing it. Once I got into it and uncovered everything, I realized it needed some reinforcement and needed to be done the right way.
What’s crazy is, he probably never would’ve even known the rust was there if he hadn’t dropped a bolt underneath the Jeep. He went looking for it and ended up seeing the damage.
I really believe the Good Lord was watching out for him that day. There was a reason he dropped that bolt exactly where he did. Who knows what could’ve happened if that rust had continued to get worse without anyone knowing about it.
Stuff like this is reminds me why I do what I do. I enjoy welding and fabricating, but more than anything, I like being able to help people and fix things the right way so they don’t have to worry about it again.
And getting to do that for someone who taught me back in high school makes it that much more special if you know him you know. He made a big impact on many students lives including me.
Sometimes you just have to trust that things happen for a reason.
