Lough Brothers Construction is a 4th generation construction company that was established out of necessity. During the Great Depression, L. J. Lough brought his family from Upper Tract, WV to Dayton, Virginia looking for better work opportunities. With material he had salvaged from old properties, L. J. built a home on Thomson Street which still stands today. At this point the family construction niche was created.

As soon as L. J.’s two sons Kenneth and Carroll were old enough, they’d come home from school and head to work. Their initial duties consisted of straightening used nails for reuse, cleaning salvaged barn wood for framing, and most importantly, learning the value of hard work. With L.J. working alongside his sons, this resulted in the original construction company: L. J. Lough and Sons. After multiple years of learning from L. J., Kenneth and Carroll took over operations and established Lough Brothers Construction Inc. The family tradition continued when Carroll’s son Steve worked for the company for many years. Steve also learned from his grandfather (L. J.) during his retirement years.

Today, the business is owned and operated by Aaron Lough (Steve’s son and Carroll’s Grandson). The company was renamed Lough Brothers Construction LLC in 2008 after Aaron received his Virginia Class A Contractors License.

Lough Brothers Construction LLC is currently based in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The office is located off John Wayland Highway (Rte. 42). Lough Brothers aims to serve all areas of the Shenandoah Valley, primarily focusing on custom residential and light commercial projects. Aaron keeps the family tradition alive by offering top-quality custom construction, with practices rooted four generations deep. Lough Brothers brings years of construction experience and would be happy to deliver your next custom project!
