October 9, 2020 marked the 36th anniversary of the incorporation of Severance Foods. In 1984 three gringos, Richard Stevens, Rich Dana and John Grikis thought there was an opportunity in Hartford to start a company making Corn Tortillas and Tortilla Chips, at a time when Mexican foods and restaurants were just starting to come into New England. Sadly, Rich passed too early in 1995. John was part of the Severance family for 31 years and retired in 2015. Today, Mr. Stevens', along with the next generation, Mr. Dana’s son Lief and daughter Martha and Mr. Stevens’ son, Rick are working to advance the business toward a bigger and better future.

But all along, the heart of Severance Foods has been it’s employees, since the first was hired in 1987. The company has a team that is producing quality products which are found in local and national grocery stores. This could not have been imagined when production began in 1985. The growth and success of Severance Foods, Inc. would not have been possible without it’s dedicated employees.

Here's to another 36 years.
