CISBOT continues to prove its value in challenging urban environments.

Our team successfully deployed CISBOT in partnership with SGN under Abbey Wood Road in the Royal Borough of Greenwich to seal 26 joints inside a live 24-inch cast iron gas main, covering approximately 109 meters (358ft) of pipeline. The launch site was located directly in front of St Michael and All Angels Church, a historic church originally built in 1908.

This section of main runs through a densely populated corridor with a history of leakage, making traditional repair or replacement both disruptive and costly—where CISBOT was an ideal solution for the gas network and community.

Using CISBOT allowed the utility to:
> Efficiently seal multiple joints with no effect to the local gas network
> Minimise excavation and community disruption
> Address leakage proactively and efficiently
> Extend the life of critical cast iron infrastructure

Projects like this highlight how robotic internal sealing technology can play a key role in helping utilities manage legacy pipe networks safely and cost-effectively.

This month, ULC Technologies completed a pre-lining inspection of a live 36” cast iron gas main using our Large VGC crawler with pan-tilt camera and high-intensity LED lighting.

The field operations team inspected a 90ft section for the first phase of the project, delivering updated critical gas main mapping and in-pipe intelligence—all while the main remained in service.

Verification of the presence and locations of offsets and other unknown/unmapped features aided in project planning, further ensuring the lining process can be smoothly delivered.

This month, ULC Technologies crews continued CISBOT operations on a 20" project that originally kicked off last year in Massachusetts. We expect to seal 230 joints from just two excavations without the need to take a single customer offline.

Sustained momentum like this reflects the long-term value of internal joint sealing for utilities—delivering critical gas main upgrades while minimizing excavation, disruption, and cost over time.
