I want to say this clearly and professionally: We are grateful for our customers, and we work hard to take care of people as quickly as we can. Owning a small HVAC business means long days, after-hours calls, and a lot of work that happens behind the scenes. Our team gives a great deal of time and effort to make sure customers are taken care of—but that time and effort must also be respected.
Recently, we made an exception for a long-time customer who was working through a home warranty claim. We typically avoid warranty-company jobs because they often require extra paperwork, repeated phone calls, and significant time before any actual repair can begin. However, because this customer had supported our business for years, we chose to help. We took the time to provide the information needed for approval, and that same evening we placed a window unit in the home to help keep it comfortable until the repair or replacement could be completed. Mind you the customer was out of town and not even home.
The next day (a Saturday), during family time, we were asked to leave what we were doing, go back to the home, take additional documentation, return to the shop, and prepare more paperwork for the warranty company immediately. We explained that we had already gone out after hours, provided temporary cooling, and would be happy to handle the additional request on Monday. That answer was not accepted. At that point, we made the decision to step away from the job. To be clear, we also asked the customer to check the Wi-Fi thermostat remotely and confirm the temperature inside the home. With the window unit we had provided, the home was holding at 73 degrees.
Here is the boundary: kindness and good service do not mean unlimited access to our time. Emergency service, after-hours help, phone calls, paperwork, travel, temporary equipment, and follow-up all have value. Even when we choose not to charge for every extra step, those efforts still cost our business time, labor, fuel, and resources. We are happy to help when we can, but we will not allow our team, our family time, or our business to be taken for granted.
We built this business on honest work, fair pricing, and quality service—not on being the cheapest option or being available on demand at all hours. We respect our customers, and we ask for that same respect in return. If you value dependable service and quality HVAC work, we would be glad to help. If you are only looking for the lowest price or expect immediate service without regard for scheduling, family time, or business boundaries, we may not be the right company for you.
