Meet the next generation of coal miners from second grade at Sturgis Elementary. Students have been learning all about coal during an interactive presentations from River View Coal/Henderson County Mine representatives. Students learned the importance of coal, how coal is mined, safety procedures and the job opportunities associated with coal.

Congratulations to our River View / Henderson County Composite Mine Rescue team. This week was the first contest of 2026, with 16 coal teams.
We were represented well!
* Day 1 Mine Rescue 2nd place
* Pre-shift contest -Eric Cruce 1st place of 22 contestants
* Bench - Jeff Bradford 2nd place of 19 contestants

An important visit at Henderson County Mine today!
We had the honor of welcoming Lee Zeldin, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, to our coal mine. It was a privilege to show him firsthand the hard work that goes into responsible coal production and our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, safety, and American energy independence.
