It is important for people to realize that a formal PhD is a microcosm of a wide field. People keep saying "Oh you don't have a PhD in Computational Chemistry or Systems Biology. The PhD you have doesn't count." Well, I guess I am intelligent enough to teach myself and discover 201 new dimeric compounds of cannabis, develop an operating system for a six module ecosystem for healthcare equity that honors traditional knowledge. So, two patents filed, six more to go. One difference between myself and the academic gatekeepers- I don't publish papers- I actually create innovations that will benefit society just like Gertude B. Elion, who did not have a formal PhD in her field of discovery.
