The Oriole Mill was envisioned by Bethanne Knudson and Stephan Michelson in 1999 at the International Textile Machinery Association exposition in Paris. Through their shared passion to reimagine the textile industry in the U.S., the mill was brought to life in Hendersonville, North Carolina in 2006.

The warp sections are being transferred from the drum to the beam. All the warp threads need to be kept at the same tension and need to be be perfectly centered between the warp beam flanges. Going slow at the beginning of the warp transfer helps guarantee the best possible results.

The warp sections are ready to be transferred from the drum to the beam. The sections are securely taped to the beam. Each section is still tied in a knot, some of these knots can be seen hanging. Next the knots and excess length are trimmed and the warp is pulled forward manually, to provide some slack before starting the warper.

The warp sections are ready to be transferred from the drum to the warp beam. The sections are held firmly with the use of a magnetic clamp, seen just below the warp beam, while the yarn is securely taped to the beam. Each section is still tied in a knot, some of these knots can be seen hanging from the clamp.
