Help us welcome back Makayla McMains, who has joined our LA team as a Landscape Designer I!

Makayla previously spent time with J2 as a Co-Op intern, and we’re thrilled that she chose to return after graduating from Purdue University. She’s looking forward to continuing her career at J2, growing as a landscape designer, and revisiting some of the projects she worked on during her co-op to see how they’ve continued to develop. She’s also excited to take on new responsibilities, get involved with new projects, and keep learning from the team.

Makayla chose to return to J2 because of her positive Co-Op experience and the collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that gives her the opportunity to grow and work on a variety of projects.

Originally from a small town in Indiana, Makayla enjoys hiking, cycling, swimming, knitting, and traveling in her free time.

We’re happy to have you back, and excited to see where this next chapter takes you!

It’s always a little hard to say goodbye to our summer interns! Last week, Jacey wrapped up her summer with our Survey team at our Leesburg office with a team lunch.

We’re so grateful for all of our interns and the energy and hard work they brought to J2 this summer. Luckily, this isn’t a full goodbye for Jacey, as she’ll be continuing to work with us part-time, so we’ll still get to see her around J2!

Good luck this school year to all of our interns! We hope you have a fantastic year. 📚

Join us in welcoming Cade Martin back to J2! 👏

Cade spent two summers with J2 as an intern, and we’re excited to have him back on the team as a full-time Project Engineer after graduating from Virginia Tech. In his new role, Cade will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects while continuing to build his engineering skills and grow alongside the J2 team.

He’s especially excited to work on projects that make an impact on the world around him. When asked why he chose to return to J2, Cade said the opportunities to learn and become a better engineer “seem second to nowhere else.”

Originally from Boston, Cade is a huge fan of all Boston sports (and, of course, the Hokies!). Outside of work, you’ll find him playing basketball, golf, or pretty much anything competitive with his friends.

We’re excited to see him take the next step in his career with J2. Welcome back, Cade!

Yesterday, we celebrated by recognizing our J2 summer interns!

Our interns spent the day learning from the people who have helped shape J2 over the past 18 years. They heard from our Principals about the history and growth of the firm and connected with our Young Professionals for real-world advice on launching a successful career.

To wrap up the day, they joined Bob Brown, PE, President & Principal, for project site tours, giving them a firsthand look at the work that brings our projects to life.

We're proud to invest in the next generation of industry professionals and grateful for the enthusiasm, curiosity, and fresh perspectives our interns have brought to J2 this summer.
