I just finished reading The Correspondent by Virginia Evans — a moving story told through letters that quietly explores so many layers of life, all beginning from a writing desk with proper pen and paper.
The book made me think about the beautiful spaces Mike has designed over the years. Spaces that become the backdrop for everyday rituals — writing a letter, reading a good book, or sitting quietly with morning coffee before the day begins.
1449 Walnut is just one of those special spaces you’ll have the opportunity to tour May 17th 2026 during the Western Springs House Walk. Mike had the pleasure of designing the original home, and later the opportunity to work with the family again as they expanded into the neighboring lot — thoughtfully revisiting and evolving the space over time.
