🚨🚨🚨We just heard from several suburban customers their electric bills skyrocketed this month; from $175 to $275 and from $203 to $350. (Facebook community pages are blowing up with complaints.) In May, Com Ed said they expected rates would increase by $10/mo. for the average resident this summer. What gives?
Com Ed suggests (on the back of the bill) it's because "the cost of electricity on the wholesale market has gone up"... and they don't control that. Who hikes prices like this?
Notorious for subpar customer service, Com Ed’s residential consumers may be bearing the brunt of AI demands. There are currently 166 data centers in the Chicago Metro area. (Details at: datacenters.com.)
Data center construction also continues to boom. Consumer outlook is not bright. What happens when demand can't be met? ✨💡🌟
