Elara Engineering has successfully completed a comprehensive MEPFP infrastructure replacement project – spanning three phases over three consecutive summers – that addressed aged and inefficient equipment for the all-electric Dundee Middle School building. Prior to project completion, the building had been served by 50-year-old, direct expansion cooling and electric heating, variable air volume handlers, and package roof top units.

Specific building infrastructure upgrades include:
New geothermal heating and cooling system
Packaged DOAS equipment
New lighting
New fire alarm system
New emergency generator
New domestic water system

Elara’s Electrical Design Studio is proud to be a part of the team that recently replaced an undersized, roof-mounted 300KW diesel generator with a new 600KW diesel generator for a 43-story high-rise condominium building at 2800 North Lake Shore Drive. The $1.6MM design and construction project, undertaken over three years, not only provided needed power for building operations and occupants, but ensured ongoing compliance with relevant codes for the building’s fire pump and the location of automatic transfer switches.

Projects like this demonstrate the value of proactive planning, close coordination, and technical expertise in delivering resilient solutions for our clients and their residents.

Elara was happy to organize a volunteer day in support of The Night Ministry, a Chicago-based organization dedicated to providing human connection, housing support, and health care to members of the community who are unhoused and experiencing poverty.

Giving back to the communities we serve is something our team value's deeply, and we're grateful to everyone who volunteered their time to make a meaningful impact. Thank you to The Night Ministry for the incredible work you do every day!

So much to celebrate this summer! 🎉

Elara Engineering’s 25th Anniversary Celebration was a huge success. We had the opportunity to hear from our founders and leadership team about everything that has been accomplished since Elara began, while also seeing the competitive side of our engineers as they faced off in some exciting game-show-style challenges, bringing plenty of energy and laughs to the celebration.

Most importantly, it was a great reminder of what can be achieved through teamwork, dedication, and a shared vision. We’re proud of all we’ve accomplished over the past 25 years and are incredibly excited for the next 25!
