It’s Construction Safety Week, and all of us at MTH Industries are proud to reaffirm our commitment to keeping our team safe—every day, on every job site.

Our crews work in dynamic, demanding environments, and their dedication to speaking up, stopping work when necessary, and supporting one another is what keeps our jobs moving safely and successfully.

We can’t help but recognize Construction Safety Council as well as our safety consultants, Bill Crimmins and George Kalule, for their due diligence in helping MTH maintain our high safety standards across every jobsite. Thank you to every employee who makes safety a shared responsibility.

Architectural glass has become one of the most dynamic components in modern buildings. It’s no longer just about transparency or aesthetics, but rather, today’s glazing has to manage energy, acoustics, movement, and decades of environmental stress.

In cities like Chicago, these demands only increase. Older masonry, irregular openings, mixed-material interfaces, and adaptive reuse projects all require glazing systems that can do far more than “fit.”

MTH Industries approaches every project as a performance system—not a single product.

Our teams consider:
• Long-term energy performance
• Sound control in residential and mixed-use conversions
• Structural movement and material interaction
• Thermal bridging challenges
• The realities of aging buildings and historic constraints

The question isn’t just what you install—but how it performs for the next 20+ years.

And that’s where our expertise makes the difference.

They say to know where you’re going, you have to remember where you started. For Mike Swanberg, that was on the shop floor, learning the ropes from his dad and mastering the steel business one beam at a time.

From those early days sweeping floors to being mentored by legends like Bruno Liska and Jerry Braun, Mike built a career rooted in hard work. As our Chief Operations Officer, he led us through our most challenging projects. When the 2009 economy hit us hard, Mike returned as President to guide us home—reaching profitability in just one year and leading us for over a decade.

But if you ask Mike what he’s most proud of, he’ll tell you it’s the people. Whether he was managing $1B in union funds or fighting for the creation of Union Health and Wellness Centers to provide free care for our members, Mike has always been a champion for our employees.

Today, as Chairman Emeritus, Mike is still the first to jump in wherever he’s needed—from the safety office back to the shop floor.

Mike, thank you for your service, your dedication, and for leading the MTH family with such grace. We are forever grateful.
