On Wednesday, July 8, our community and Hingham Historical Society will gather to commemorate a remarkable milestone- The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. As the bells ring from Hingham's Memorial Bell Tower, gather at the Old Ship Meetinghouse to join a nationwide synchronized reading of America's founding document. Readers include Hingham leaders such Massa Products Corporation’s CEO Dawn Faith Stancavish and others drawn from across the community. Massa is proud to support this meaningful commemoration of our nation's history and invites you to celebrate the civic spirit that continues to bring our community together.
Consider walking to historic downtown Hingham with your friends and neighbors – as they would have in 1776! The bells will ring at 5:30 PM with formal programming starting at 6:00 PM. A reception will follow the reading at the Hingham Community Center, at 70 South Street. Refreshments will be generously provided by the Community Center and the Fruit Center Marketplace. Hingham's famous "Singing Football Player" and McGill University Opera student, Nic Capodilupo will lead us in song.
