Part 4 — Primary Suite

Where universal design and beautiful design meet most clearly.

Part 4 takes you into the fully remodeled primary suite — and the bathroom is where it really shines. The shower is fully accessible: a flush-entry pan eliminates trip hazards and keeps cleaning easy, a fixed showerhead and handheld pair give flexibility, and a built-in niche keeps everything within reach. The glass doors can be swapped for a shower curtain if needs ever change, and we installed solid backing inside every wall so grab bars can be added later without disturbing tile. The original tile windowsills stayed.

In the bedroom, three windows now bring in natural light from three different directions — including one we discovered framed in behind a wall mid-project. A small biophilic detail with a big daily impact.

Stay tuned — one final episode lands next week.

This Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who gave their lives in service to this great country.

Behind every project we complete, every home we build, and every community we serve — there are those who sacrificed everything to protect it. Today we stop, reflect, and give thanks.

From our team to the families who carry this loss every day — we see you, we honor you, and we are grateful.

🌿 May is Mental Health Awareness Month — and as one of Seattle’s top remodelers, we believe the spaces we live in have a profound impact on how we feel. 💚

That's where biophilic design comes in. By weaving natural elements into your home — think natural light, organic textures, indoor plants, and earthy materials — we create spaces that don't just look beautiful, but actually support your well-being.

Research shows that connecting with nature, even indoors, can reduce stress, improve mood, and foster a greater sense of calm. Your home should be your sanctuary — a place that restores you.

This month, we're reminded that caring for your mental health starts with the environment around you. 🌱

Part 3 — Main Floor Laundry & Backyard
Goodbye basement laundry. Hello flush back door.

In Part 3, Paul shows two updates that completely change everyday life in this home. First, the laundry — relocated from the basement to the main floor, eliminating one more set of stairs from the daily routine.

Right next to the new laundry, the back door has a flush threshold instead of a step-down, so getting in and out happens seamlessly. Just outside, another gentle ramp leads down to the backyard, where a comfortable seated area is just as accessible as the front entrance. Big quality-of-life shift in two small details.

Up next: the Primary Suite. Stay tuned over the next few weeks — two episodes still to come.

Your home should help you breathe — not work against you.

May is National Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month — a good reminder that the spaces we live in have a real effect on how we feel inside them. For the millions of people managing asthma or seasonal allergies, thoughtful design choices in a remodel can be life-changing.

A few moves we love (and built into our most recent project):

🌬️ An ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) to bring filtered, fresh air into the home year-round

🍃 Low- and no-VOC paints, finishes, and adhesives that don't off-gas into your air

🧹 Hard-surface flooring over carpet, so dust and dander have nowhere to settle

🍳 Range hoods vented all the way outside so cooking pollutants leave the home

🛁 Bath fans sized and ducted properly to manage moisture and prevent mold

Whether you're planning a full remodel or just one focused upgrade, breathing easier in your own home is a goal worth designing for.
