Bringing more production back to the U.S. also means asking whether the supply chain behind that production is ready to support it.
Ford Motor Company plans to expand U.S. production are another sign of reshoring gaining momentum. But increased domestic production can also put more pressure upstream, from material availability and processing capacity to lead times and supplier responsiveness.
Having production here is only part of the equation. Having the material and supplier capacity to keep that production moving matters too.
It’s an important part of the reshoring conversation that can easily get overlooked.
