Bringing more production back to the U.S. also means asking whether the supply chain behind that production is ready to support it.

Ford Motor Company plans to expand U.S. production are another sign of reshoring gaining momentum. But increased domestic production can also put more pressure upstream, from material availability and processing capacity to lead times and supplier responsiveness.

Having production here is only part of the equation. Having the material and supplier capacity to keep that production moving matters too.

It’s an important part of the reshoring conversation that can easily get overlooked.

What a great event at the Technology & Manufacturing Association Women’s Luncheon! It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time connecting with fellow women of TMA, meeting new people, and catching up with familiar faces.

We also got to catch up with three incredible ladies from United Scrap Metal, Kimberly Reddington, Katye Todd, and Amy Burchill (Arend). It’s always great seeing familiar faces at TMA events!

A highlight of the event was recognizing the 11 WTMA grant recipients as they continue investing in their education and careers. Congratulations as well to Marcy Brajkovic, President and Owner of Charterfield Global LLC, on receiving the 2026 Rose Mottl Award!

We also had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Melissa Dotson Business Culture and Workplace Expert, Owner of Rieke Interiors, who spoke about elevating yourself both personally and professionally. Her interactive exercises encouraged us to connect with the women around us, exchange perspectives, and have meaningful conversations.

It was a great afternoon learning from one another, celebrating the accomplishments of women in TMA, and building new connections.

Everyone talks about AI finding defects.

Fewer people talk about why those defects exist in the first place.

AI vision systems can inspect thousands of parts with incredible accuracy, but they can't recover lost machine time caused by process variation introduced earlier in manufacturing.

What a great afternoon celebrating Illinois manufacturing!

Yesterday, the M&M Quality Grinding team attended the Illinois Manufacturers' Association Hall of Fame, where we joined manufacturers from across the state to celebrate this year's outstanding Hall of Fame inductees and their lasting contributions to our industry.
