Nothing crazy but a bit of a back breaker. To some people’s horror my client wanted to pull up part of their maple hardwood floor and replace it with tile. Getting the height right for flush, maple inlay, border translations was the most thought. Logistically a little difficult. some days were shorter and some really long. To my clients defense they have radiant heat in the floor, so the maple hardwoods weren’t installed with the typical fasteners and squeaked really bad in the summer. They are also due for a refinish and not as maintainable as they were 25 years ago.

Not the greatest photos. No befores but a small bathroom wrapped up last week. Color washed the very popular sage green. We changed the door from a regular swing to a pocket door. Pocket door remodels are a lot of work and quite pricey so most people don’t opt to do it but we did here. 4 panel shower. I need to charge more for panel showers because they involve about the same prep to do tile. Super frustrating because this is my 2nd shower base that has come warped. This causes a lot of heads aches and added work. Thankfully this time is was on the back wall and now the shower door side. It’s getting difficult to recommend products when it seems there are no options for guaranteed quality. This was a Kohler base I’ve installed a lot and there technical team couldn’t even understand the issue. They thought I was just out of level and couldn’t even understand what I meant by warped. Either way. On to the next.

This bathroom was a great feather in the cap. It went super smooth until the end where I had a ton of supplier issues. Cabinets built to the wrong size, quartz never kicked off, the partial order of quartz received, then quartz milled down too much, then not enough. It was so frustrating but my client left me a good review because they weren’t my mistakes and I stuck it out eating the cost of time wasted with a good attitude. My most expensive bathroom to date. So much coordination goes into something like this. Lots of features. Heated floor, quartz sill by the freestanding tub, sill to ceiling glass walls, floor mounted fixtures, under vanity lighting. Really happy to be hired for a more ambitious project. Thanks for looking!

Finished up this project last week. Did a couple small projects between while waiting for inspections. Another great easy to work with client. I’m really lucky that way it seems. I know I haven’t been posting updates on my stories. I’m a bit tired of social media and debating getting a dumb phone and being done with it. It was nice to do a simple bathroom. Not serious problem solving and just able to go thru the motions and listen to music. Thanks for looking!

This was a really cool one and a great example of how you grow your business. Meaning, I was doing some new things for this job I and I underbid some of the work. However, I firmly believe in order to earn work for good money, you have to do that work at some point for free or drastically less money. Call it karma I don’t know but it happens to me a lot. The vanity was live edge wood and we in mortised a slot along the sides and back to sit on a ledger, fastened it together, then pocket hole fastened thru the shiplap into pre planned studs. There was so much crap in this wall making the plumbing nice in an open setting with wall mounted faucets was a real challenge. I also installed a new larger window. This entails a lot more work than what it seems. New shower, shiplap, and floating shelves for a solid accent. Oh and my son helped. Thanks for looking!

Some shots of this shower I’ve been working on and the floor. Really liked this shower 2 by 6 seagram green wall tile with large envelope base and gold finishes. Although I think maintenance wise a quartz sill for the curb is the best choice. A tiled curb looks so good.

Fun quick fireplace tile. Homeowners had prepped so I had to come in and float the wall but other than that pretty good to go. Nice to do a small job.

Put the final touch ups on this bathroom today. Really fun one. Most of the bathrooms I do are distressed but this was more of an update. Took out the tub and we replaced it with a standing shower. Removed the old standing shower which I’ll put shelves in eventually. Just waiting for the clients to choose a design. Took out the old 4 by 4 tile and replaced it with a brick imitation herringbone pattern. Custom niche in the shower that also serves as a foot rest while shaving. Really great clients and another job in the books. Thanks for looking!
