Most air conditioners have a 10 year parts and compressor warranty, so if any failures happen within that warranty period, we should absolutely look at doing repairs. However, once we are out of that warranty period, the math becomes gray. Repair costs can be up to 50% of the total value of the replacement. At that point, we might consider pushing a homeowner to replace the unit instead of repair it, but we take it on a case by case basis.
