Summer goals: read the books, spend more time in the garden, embrace the mess/noise along with the beauty, work on our own projects, enjoy the farm, sit by the lake. Summer break is officially here for us. The work still needs to be done but I’m convicted to slow down. Summer in Michigan is one of my favorite places to be.

It’s wonderful and beautiful and imperfect and messy. It’s our safe haven; the place where we rest and refuel, where we work through the hard things, and where we celebrate and create. Its ever changing, and always in progress. It’s the place I always want my family to want to come back to. It’s the place where we can always make a cup of coffee, play a game of Catan, bring in all the animals, watch movies, play, cry, laugh, sing, and live our life. It’s the most special place in the world to me. May we always renovate to make our houses become more of our homes. This is why we love our job.

What a transformation in this space! These homeowners had loads of great ideas for their home, and we love how it all came together! The color of this stone backsplash brings a subtle pop of personality to this kitchen, while the warm walnut cabinets ground the kitchen with a richness and the crisp white uppers keep everything feeling bright and open. It’s nearing cozy season. We have one in our home that was playing Christmas music and asking to start the wood stove this week. 😳 While we hold on to the last days of summer, it also gets us excited for crisp fall days, and for snuggling up by the fire. This lovely room got a full makeover, and is such an inviting space now to curl up with a book, or to settle in with bunch of loved ones.
