Meet The Team Monday: Danny Marks
From entry-level driver to facility leadership, Danny Marks’ career at Chemstream is a great example of what workforce development can look like in action.
Danny joined Chemstream nearly six years ago as a driver with no previous experience hauling bulk liquid in a smoothbore tanker. From the beginning, he made a point to learn more than what was required for his role.
When he wasn’t driving, Danny spent time learning everything he could about the facility and its operations. A little more than two years later, turnover created an opportunity, and he was ready to step in and show what he could do.
Today, Danny oversees the Montoursville facility and a team of nine employees, managing everything from scheduling and paperwork to ensuring the operation runs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
One lesson he has carried with him is that just because something has always been done a certain way doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way. Growth sometimes means thinking outside the box, trying something new, and constantly looking for ways to improve.
“I certainly never pictured being where I am today. I didn’t have any intentions other than being the best driver that I could be. The progression for me validates that hard work, dedication and perseverance do pay off.”
His advice for someone starting in an entry-level role?
“Be prideful, be a sponge and be versatile.”
Take pride in what you do, soak up every piece of information you can, and be willing to learn beyond your role.
