Meet the Team Monday | Richard Biem
Meet Richard Biem, Production Associate at Chemstream’s Altoona facility.
Richard works in the Polymer Production Plant, where his day includes pumping and mixing chemicals, adjusting monomer pH to company standards, assisting with polymer reactions, and preparing chemicals to complete polymer production. He also prepares totes for filling and ensures they are properly labeled according to company specifications and customer requirements.
What Richard enjoys most about Chemstream is how close the people are across the company. Even when coworkers from different locations only see each other a few times a year, they remember to ask about each other’s families, vacations, and lives outside of work.
That connection, along with knowing the polymer he helps produce can go just about anywhere in the country and make a difference for a customer or community, keeps him motivated.
One accomplishment Richard is especially proud of is 15 years of working with chemicals without a recordable accident, including more than five years at Chemstream. He takes pride in making sure he goes home safely each day and helping his coworkers do the same, whether that means offering advice on unloading tankers and trucks or operating a forklift safely.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys bowling, cooking for family and friends, and spending quality time with his family, especially his nephews Jake and Zach.
