We haven’t given an update on our Parks at Walnut project in quite some time.

We have wrapped up the interior paving and the builder has several units being built.

We still have a few utility project to finish up.

This site has gone through a great transformation and we are proud to see it at this stage.

Dave Haldeman started changing lives because he saw kids with special needs who wanted to cheer competitively had nowhere to go.

We know this one personally. Merv Sensenig has been part of our paving crew for 37 years. He's also a cheerleader dad. His daughter Christine competes with the Miracles squad. When we sat down to think about which organizations to support this year, this one didn't take long.

Founded in 2020 and based in Lancaster, Stratosphere Cheerabilities is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides adaptive, competitive cheerleading for children and young adults with disabilities, completely free to participants. Uniforms, travel assistance, competition fees, Stratosphere makes sure cost is never what keeps an athlete off the floor.

Last year, the Miracles squad traveled to the AllStar World Championships in Orlando and came home with a bronze medal, finishing 3rd among 8 teams in their division. The year before, they took silver.

One of the athletes cheers from a wheelchair. Competing at the AllStar World Championships had been her lifelong dream. She was there.

Parents have said the program gives their children a better quality of life for as long as possible. There aren't many ways to respond to that except to make sure the program keeps going.

We were proud to support Stratosphere Cheerabilities with a $6,000 donation.

Stratosphere runs entirely on community support. You can find them on Facebook at Vizion Athletix Miracles SSC INC or reach out through Vizion Athletix in Lancaster. Every dollar goes toward keeping participation free and getting these athletes to the competitions they've earned.

A Joe Lewis appreciation post.

When we are in the need of an extra dozer operator. We know who to call.

Joe.

He has been a friend of ours for as long as we can remember.

We can always count on him to step in and run dozer, helping with basin conversions, or fine grading, he will be there.

Thank you Joe for always being there and lending a helping hand.

Memorial Day: a US federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May to mourn and honor military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Oct 3rd, 2009. Pre-dawn hours

Combat Outpost Keating, Nurestan Province, Afghanistan.

Approx 300-400 Taliban led insurgents attacked the small outpost, home to fewer than 60 Cavalrymen from Bravo Troop, 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division.

After an intense 12-hour close contact battle, and with the help of danger close air support, the US Troops were able to regain control of the base and push the enemy back.

It came at an extraordinary cost that changes the lives of dozens of families.

Eight US Soldiers gave the ultimate sacrifice.

PFC Kevin Thomson
SSG Vernon Martin
SPC Stephan Mace
SGT Joshua Kirk
SGT Joshua Hardt
SSG Justin Gallegos
SGT Christopher Griffin
SGT Michael Scusa

Last week we honored those eight and flew a Gold Star Flag stitched in memory of SGT Michael Scusa.

My brother, my hero.

Wishing everyone a safe Memorial Day filled with making new memories with the important people in your life.

But if you can, take a moment to reflect on what this day is about.

Maybe speak the name of a fallen hero or two, someone whose family now carries only memories.

While setting up traffic control for an evening paving project nearby, two members of the Allan Myers team were killed when a tractor trailer crashed into their work zone.

We compete with Allan Myers. We'll compete with them again. None of that matters right now.

What matters is that this industry asks a lot of the people who show up every day to keep roads moving, projects on schedule, and the rest of the world going about its business without thinking twice about what it takes.

Most days that work gets done without notice but some nights, it costs everything.

To the families, the crews, and everyone at Allan Myers touched by this loss, our hearts are with you.

To everyone out there working the shoulder of a highway tonight, please get home safe.

A loss felt deeply across our team.

Thank you for your care and concern regarding the recent incident on Route 30 near Coatesville, PA.

Two of our Allan Myers family tragically lost their lives when a tractor-trailer entered our work zone, striking multiple vehicles. Two additional colleagues were transported to a local hospital and released.

An investigation is ongoing. Our focus remains on supporting those impacted.

We ask that you please join us in prayer for their families, friends, and colleagues.

12 years.

That’s a lot of hours behind the wheel of an articulated dump truck.

Paul C has been a steady presence on our job sites for over a decade, doing the work that keeps everything moving, sometimes literally.

If there’s a dump truck onsite that needs to be run, Paul’s one of the guys you bring in.

And when the excavator needs someone to step in, he’s done that too.

Consistency over 12 years is something worth recognizing.

Thanks for showing up and being a valuable part of the team Paul.

116 years of showing up for Lancaster.

Lancaster Recreation Commission has been running recreation and learning programs in this city since 1909. Not as a government agency, not as a private gym, but as a community partnership between the City of Lancaster, the School District of Lancaster, and Lancaster Township, built specifically to make recreation accessible to people who might otherwise go without it.

The scope of what they do is worth actually reading.

Kids get youth sports leagues, dance classes, ESports programs, summer day camps, and full-day child care for infants through age 5. Before and after school programs for working families. Summer playgrounds and wading pools that are free to the community every year starting in June. A scholarship program that removes cost as a barrier for kids who want to participate but can't afford registration fees.

Adults get fitness classes and competitive sports leagues. Seniors get a free center with fitness programs, social activities, and facilitated learning classes. The whole community gets events like Open Streets Lancaster, Lancaster Beer Gardens, and the Lancaster Unity Cup.

Lancaster Rec runs on the belief that recreation is for everyone, regardless of age, income, or background. That belief is 116 years old and still operational.

We were proud to present Lancaster Rec with a $20,000 donation in support of their mission.

Lancaster Rec, formally the Lancaster Recreation Commission, has operated continuously since 1909. That's not a typo. 116 years of youth sports, summer camps, senior programs, child care, and free community events, all built around one idea: recreation should be available to everyone in Lancaster, r
