IntelliGen SN 100 Ships!
While not a huge number, it’s a significant milestone for Power4Flight and one to be proud of and acknowledged. Years of hard work, development capital, and the help of a few early adopters are typically required to successfully get any new product across the finish line and into the hands of the end customer. As engineers we tend to focus on what is wrong with something, how to fix it, and what is next on the priority list: we typically aren’t good at acknowledging or celebrating our incremental successes along the way. This milestone represents the collective efforts of a small team who have worked hard, stayed focused, and believed. It’s the people involved who are core to any success, who make the difference, and who we want to acknowledge here.
I remember when Bill and I were working on the first Piccolo autopilot at Cloud Cap Technology, we naively thought if we could sell 250 autopilots that it would be a success and worth doing! Not too many years later SN 1,000 shipped. SN 8,000 was delivered sometime in 2013, a few years after we sold Cloud Cap to Goodrich/UTC. That success was based on the people involved, not the underlying technology.
Little things can lead to big things when you have the right people, good ideas, the proper environment, and a belief in what you are doing.
To all involved, past and present, thanks.
A special thanks goes out to the team at NWUAV, they were one of the key early adopters of IntelliGen and instrumental in helping us get to this milestone.
