GLSV TAKES TO THE ICE IN WEEKLY “EMPLOYEES ONLY” HOCKEY GAME.

Great Lakes Sound & Vibration is located in Houghton, Michigan, a.k.a. “The Birthplace of Professional Hockey.” It stands to logic that in a region which is revered for its hockey history, a large number of hockey players would live and work in the area. What started as an annual event for employees, the “GLSV Skate” has evolved into a weekly, Thursday at noon matchup featuring members from every department of the small business. During the dog days of winter when the weather is so unpredictable, players are happy to get out on the ice and enjoy an hour of friendly competition and exercise. GLSV is a proud sponsor of local youth and amateur hockey in the Copper Country.

GLSV awarded US Marine Corps SBIR to develop Enhanced Acoustic Hailing Device.

GLSV received a Phase-I SBIR (topic number N202-089) from the US Marine Corps to develop a Focused Enhanced Acoustic-Driver Technology for Long Range Non-Lethal Hail and Warn Capabilities. The main purpose of this device is to help soldiers more effectively determine the intent of a person, crowd, vessel, or vehicle at a safe distance, and audibly warn and deter them prior to escalating to lethal force. Other applications include civil defense, campus security, crowd control, and law enforcement. GLSV’s improved hailing device will be compact and lightweight, and will have increased acoustic output levels, improved voice intelligibility at longer ranges, more precise aiming and targeting, and other benefits.

GLSV awarded Phase-II SBIR contract to develop an efficient Acoustic Countermeasure Depth Control System

GLSV recently received a SBIR Phase-II contract from the US Navy to continue development of an efficient depth control system for an acoustic device countermeasure (ADC). The ADC acts as a decoy in the event of an enemy torpedo attack on US Navy submarines. The ADC emits an acoustic signature that mimics the submarine and draws the enemy torpedo away from the boat. GLSV’s new depth control mechanism will minimize energy consumption to enable increased performance of the acoustic source while the ADC is deployed. GLSV is developing this technology under SBIR topic N191-023.
