Got to be part of a nice little custom cabin project today.
We handled some of the plumbing rough-in work, including the bathroom drains, shower piping, water lines, and laundry hookup. It’s always nice working on these smaller custom builds where every part of the job matters and you can see the place coming together step by step.
I appreciate being trusted to take care of the plumbing side of it.

Finished up some underground drain work on a remodel project in Houlton.
We found a cracked 4” wye/cleanout fitting that was partly under the foundation area and cut it out to make the repair properly. We replaced it with new drainage fittings to serve the new shower location, including a new shower trap.
We also capped the old shower drain line, added a new drain setup for the laundry box in the wall, tied in a backwash drain with a trap under the stair landing, and made sure everything was vented right.
Once the piping was completed, we backfilled the area and saw-cut the edges of the opening to leave clean, square lines for the concrete patch.
Clean underground plumbing work matters — once it’s covered up, it needs to be right.

Sometimes we get called into jobs where the problem isn’t just one bad fitting or one clogged drain — it’s the whole layout working against the system.
This commercial laundry drain had a few issues that needed to be corrected. The original 4” PVC line had too many tight turns, not enough support, and it was dumping into a floor drain instead of being properly tied into the sewer main.
On top of that, the inspector also had concerns with the way the piping was run in front of the electrical panel. That area needs to stay clear and accessible, and plumbing should never create problems for electrical access or future service.
Laundry discharge moves a lot of water, so the piping needs to be pitched right, supported right, accessible, and routed in a way that actually makes sense. When corners get cut, it usually turns into backups, odors, clogs, failed inspections, and more money spent later.
We cleaned this one up, rerouted the drain properly into the 4” sewer main, added solid hangers, long-sweep fittings, and cleanouts for future service.
A lot of the best plumbing work gets hidden above ceilings and behind walls, but it makes a big difference when it’s done right.
Do it once. Do it right.

Today is for them.
For the ones who left home and never came back.
For the families who had to keep living with an empty seat at the table.
For the names carved in stone, the folded flags, and the sacrifices most of us will never fully understand.
Memorial Day is not about us. It is about honoring those who gave everything.

Deep well jet pump system repair.
We were originally called in thinking this system was going to need to be converted over to a submersible pump. The concern was that there may have been a leak in the line between the house and the well.
Once we opened up the well pit, we found the pit full of water. We had to pump it down to get access and see where the leak was actually coming from. After digging it out, cleaning everything up, and exposing the piping, we found the leak was inside the well pit itself.
We were able to cut out the failed section, make the repair, and get the system back up and running without having to do a full conversion.
This saved the customer a lot of money and avoided unnecessary work.
Sometimes the best job isn’t replacing the whole system — it’s taking the time to find the real problem and repair it right.

Out with the old two-pipe jet pump system and in with a full modern upgrade.
We converted this setup over to a new submersible well pump system for better reliability, stronger performance, quieter operation, and less maintenance long term. Instead of abandoning the old 1¼” line between the house and well, we repurposed it as a protective sleeve for the new submersible pump wire — keeping the installation clean and protected underground.

We also extended the well casing up to grade level for better serviceability and protection, then installed a new pressure tank inside the home to complete the system upgrade.

This was more than just replacing a pump — this was correcting and modernizing the entire water system for long-term dependability.

Underground is where the real work happens.
This one got a full under-slab rough in with new drainage, venting, water lines, and a sewage pit install before the concrete gets poured. Finished it off with a wall-mounted on demand water heater setup for a clean and efficient mechanical room.
A lot of planning goes into jobs like this. Once concrete is down, there’s no easy fixing mistakes — so everything gets laid out with long term serviceability and reliability in mind from day one.

Not every basement gives you room to work. Sometimes you get dirt floors, stone walls, low beams, old piping, and years of “repairs” done by whoever had a wrench last.
This one was more than just ugly piping. We found heavy rot and sections that were one bad day away from blowing apart and flooding the basement. Definitely a just-in-time replacement before it became a major problem.
Customer wanted it cleaned up and done right. New copper throughout, proper shutoffs, cleaner routing, and a system that’s actually serviceable now instead of a nightmare.
No fancy showroom basement here. Just real work in a real old Maine house.
This is the kind of stuff we love doing.
