45 Years of AC Analytical Controls – and what a journey it's been!

On May 4, 1981, Han Spaans founded AC Analytical Controls B.V. in Rotterdam with a vision to solve the industry's hardest analytical problems. His work helped give the world its first PIONA analyzer, and from that single breakthrough, a 45-year legacy of chromatography excellence was born.

Earlier this month, the AC team celebrated the milestone at the Rotterdam facility with colleagues, retirees, and special guests – including Han's family. His wife, Deborah, gifted the team a framed drawing of AC's original office in Schipluiden, where it all began. Han passed away in February of this year at the age of 85, yet his legacy lives on in every instrument that carries the AC name.

45 years of innovation, and the best is still ahead. Congratulations to the entire AC team!

We had a great time at Analytica 2026.

Hakan Turan, Marlon Fraai (Direct Sales, GC in BeNeLux, DACH, and Nordic Regions), Bernd Heckmann (Direct Sales, Physical Properties), and Manish Kalilka (Global Product Manager, Elemental Analysis) enjoyed the opportunity to meet with our customers, partners, and colleagues at this year’s Analytica show.
