(Nasdaq: COYA) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing proprietary treatments focused on the biology and potential therapeutic advantages of regulatory T cells (“Tregs”) to target systemic inflammation and neuroinflammation. Dysfunctional Tregs underlie numerous conditions including neurodegenerative, metabolic, and autoimmune diseases, and this cellular dysfunction may lead to a sustained inflammation and oxidative stress resulting in lack of homeostasis of the immune system. Coya’s product candidate pipeline leverages multiple therapeutic modalities aimed at restoring the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory functions of Tregs. Coya’s therapeutic platforms include Treg-enhancing biologics, Treg-derived exosomes, and autologous Treg cell therapy. Coya’s 300 Series product candidates, COYA 301 and COYA 302, are biologic therapies intended to enhance Treg function and expand Treg numbers. COYA 301 is a cytokine biologic for subcutaneous administration to enhance Treg function and expand Treg numbers in vivo, and COYA 302 is a biologic combination for subcutaneous and/or intravenous administration intended to enhance Treg function while depleting T effector function and activated macrophages. These two mechanisms may be additive or synergistic in suppressing inflammation. Coya’s mission is focused on the advancement of innovative therapeutic approaches to address the significant unmet medical needs of patients with serious neurodegenerative, autoimmune, and metabolic diseases. For , we’re highlighting the importance of collaboration in advancing research and developing new approaches for people living with frontotemporal degeneration ( ).

Last week, our Senior VP of Program Management and Clinical Operations, Karen King, joined researchers, industry colleagues, regulators and advocates at The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) FTD Research Roundtable. This year’s meeting was focused on biomarker strategies and data sharing for FTD clinical trials, and the shared challenges and opportunities involved in advancing FTD drug development.

As we recognize FTD Awareness Week, we’re grateful to AFTD and the broader FTD community for fostering the collaboration, knowledge-sharing and advocacy needed to accelerate progress for individuals and families affected by FTD.

We are saddened by the passing of O.J. Brigance, a Houston native whose impact reached far beyond the football field. From his standout career at Rice University and in the NFL, to his 19-year journey with ALS, O.J. became a powerful advocate for the community.

Through the Brigance Brigade Foundation, O.J. dedicated himself to supporting people living with ALS and their families. As a Houston-based company working to advance new approaches for ALS, Coya honors his remarkable legacy and extends our condolences to his family, friends, and the many communities he inspired.

August is , when advocates across the country connect with their elected officials to press for stronger federal investment in ALS research.

Progress in depends on more than science alone. Sustained public funding, informed policy, and the persistence of patients, families, and caregivers who share their experiences with decision-makers all shape how quickly new treatments move from the lab toward the people who need them.

Advocacy is part of what makes research like ours possible. Coya is conducting the Phase 2 ALSTARS clinical trial, evaluating COYA 302, an investigational therapy designed to address the believed to contribute to ALS progression.
