Multiple times a year, the people of Norway trek through the mountains as part of "dugnad," a long-standing tradition of collective volunteering in the region.

Whether it's splitting and stacking firewood, or building wooden walkways to protect vulnerable trails, these days aren't just about making nature more accessible. They're about teamwork under demanding conditions, care for the environment, and respect for local culture.

It's a spirit of shared responsibility that extends to our employees, who are encouraged early on in their careers to step out of their daily roles and into the mountains to take part in dugnad.

"It's our way of helping shape the next generation of leaders into people who understand that impact goes beyond business results," says Ole Christian Meldahl, our Managing Director for Scandinavia.

Well said, Ole. We couldn't agree more.

The Schlumberger Foundation has reached a milestone: 1,000 Faculty for the Future fellows worldwide!

Women from emerging and developing economies are advancing PhD and postdoctoral research across STEM, helping grow a global network of scientists, educators, and innovators driving change where it matters most.

Since 2004, the program has gone beyond funding. It has helped build lasting scientific capacity:
• 83% of alumnae remain in academia
• 185,000+ students taught
• 1,300+ peer-reviewed papers published annually

But the real impact is seen in communities.

From advancing neurological care in Mozambique to developing life-saving radiotherapy technologies, and from shaping national policies to launching STEM institutions, these fellows are transforming knowledge into action.

This is what’s possible when we invest in people, expand access to science, and turn knowledge into lasting impact.

This Earth Day, we’re proud to spotlight SLB’s water stewardship efforts across the communities we serve. Clean water access is important to our daily lives. Without a reliable water source, families — especially women and girls — spend hours each day collecting water from unsafe sources, perpetuating cycles of poor health, lost education, and limited economic opportunity.

In Malaysia, we partnered with a local organization to improve clean water access for over 100 indigenous families. Through our efforts, we provided 20 safe water access and storage systems and seven sanitation facilities — improving health, safety and quality of life.

We’ve also recently partnered with charity:water, a non-profit organization that provides clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. As part of our partnership, we’ll support sustainable, community-led water access projects in Mozambique and Kenya.

When asked to share an impactful moment as part of SLB’s 100 year anniversary, Rosa, one of our sustainability managers, described a visit to an under resourced school for hearing-impaired children in the Republic of Congo.

An SLB team was preparing to build a new facility for the school. During one visit, Rosa witnessed children receiving hearing aids alongside parents seeing their children experience sound for the first time.

Reflecting on the moment, Rosa says “To witness such joy, such connection — reminded me that education isn’t just about buildings or programs. It’s about dignity. It’s about being included. And it’s also how we build resilient local economies.”

This is one example of how SLB supports community-led efforts focused on accessibility and education. Across SLB, employees apply their experience and expertise to support local communities and expand access to opportunity.

What does it take to equip the next generation to live healthier, safer lives?

SLB is taking a decisive step with the launch of the newest Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) for Youth module — LiveWell —advancing health, safety, and environmental education for young people.

Inaugurated in Nigeria, LiveWell responds to a pressing global priority: supporting children’s physical and mental wellbeing. Through practical guidance on nutrition, physical activity, and healthy thinking, the module gives young people the tools to make informed, everyday decisions that can shape healthier habits for life.

This launch reinforces SLB’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) leadership beyond the workplace, strengthening communities and shaping a generation empowered to live well and lead safely.

Four years ago, Alejandra Fonseca Munoz volunteered to join a new initiative in Quito, Ecuador. The national government wanted to double hydrocarbon production within five years to power development, business, and growth for underserved communities, and they looked to SLB for help.

Our answer? Future Energy Experience or FEX, as we like to call it—an event launched by Alejandra and several of her colleagues.

"FEX was an event about education and inspiration, especially for university students fresh out of school . . . While renewables have an important role to play, much of the energy needed to achieve [the nation's] goals will come from oil and gas. And that’s okay, so long as we produce the hydrocarbons responsibly, considering water circularity and the environment at every step."

The event brought together upcoming technology and talent, all under the premise of enhancing the oil value chain. And it continues to this day as hydrocarbons contribute to ongoing energy security and affordability around the world.

Congratulations to Alejandra and the team for building something of longstanding relevance for the communities they operate in!

“Embrace your unique perspectives.”

That’s the advice Pearl Chu, SLB’s director of technical domains and university relations, shares with anyone considering a career in the energy technology industry.

A strong advocate for diversity and collaboration, Pearl has spent her career helping bridge cultural and professional divides across the industry.

Her leadership was recently recognized at Hart Energy’s 9th Annual Influential Women in Energy luncheon, which celebrates women helping shape the future of energy.

“Our industry thrives on diversity of thought—not only across gender, but also across backgrounds, perspectives, education and culture,” she said. “If we all think the same, we leave a lot on the table when it comes to fueling invention and innovation.”

👏 Congratulations, Pearl, on this well-deserved recognition. Your leadership continues to open doors for the next generation of energy innovators.

It’s only been a few days since we launched our centennial celebrations, and we’re already seeing incredible stories of innovation, leadership, and community being told by our employees.

Annie Tan, our Human Resources Manager in Asia Pacific, chose to describe this unforgettable moment of connection:

“Sitting in a small group discussion within the LGBT+ Allies community, I watched individuals—people I had never met before—join quietly, cautiously. Some chose to share parts of themselves they hadn’t shared at work before. Others simply listened. What mattered wasn’t what was said, but what was felt. This was a safe place. A new community. . .

What humbles me, every time, is the passion my colleagues bring to the table. The willingness to give their time, energy, and heart to these efforts. Not because they have to, but because they genuinely want to make a positive difference in the communities around them, both in and outside SLB.”
