Gas lift valves and mandrels are not one-size-fits-all components. The right configuration depends on the well design, operating conditions and how the system may need to be serviced over time.
Common options include:
• Injection Pressure Operated valves, which respond primarily to injection pressure to control gas entry into the production tubing
• Tubing-Retrievable mandrels, which are installed as part of the tubing string with the valves loaded before the tubing is run
• Side-Pocket mandrels, which allow valves to be installed or replaced by wireline without pulling the tubing string
Selecting the right valve and mandrel configuration is an important part of designing a gas lift system that supports current production needs while providing flexibility as well conditions change.
