This month’s Student Spotlight feels especially meaningful.

As part of the Petroleum Extension - PETEX at The University of Texas at Austin Professional Land Management Certificate Program, students are challenged to connect classroom learning with real-world experience. Recent graduate and landman Daniel Parker did just that by sitting down with Peter Scott—a Denver-based landman with more than 40 years of experience and owner of Land Rights Services.

What does it really mean to work ethically in land management?

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of presenting at the West Coast Landman’s Institute in beautiful San Luis Obispo, CA. My session — “Rigged for Success: A Landman’s Guide to Ethics” — opened up a thoughtful, honest dialogue about the ethical challenges land professionals face every day.
