So, I did a thing 👀

I created an online practice quiz based on the AAPL Study Guide! One of my goals this year was to build more interactive content for land professionals—and this is just the beginning.

Want to test your knowledge and see how you stack up? I’ve shared all the details (plus the quiz link) in my latest blog post.

Check it out below and let me know how you do—I hope you enjoy it!

If you're preparing for the AAPL America's Landmen certification exam — or just want to sharpen your knowledge of real property law — I’ve created a couple of resources that may help.

This month, I’m sharing a study guide along with a practice quiz designed to help land professionals review key concepts and test their understanding of topics commonly covered in the exam.

Whether you’re actively studying for certification or simply looking to strengthen your expertise, I hope these tools add value as you continue building your skills in the land profession.

If you give the quiz a try, I’d love to hear how you did.

Tune In: AAPL’s Landman Now Podcast — Real Talk for Real Land Professionals

Every time a new oil and gas show hits the screen, I start getting questions — “Is this really what landmen do?” If you’ve watched Paramount+’s Landman, you already know it makes for great television… but not exactly a training manual.

What I do love, however, is when that curiosity opens the door to real conversations about what our profession actually requires: judgment, accuracy, ethics, and continuous learning. That’s why I was excited to see the AAPL America's Landmen (AAPL) launch a podcast series that shines a light on the real work behind the title.

If you enjoy staying sharp, connected, and professionally grounded, this is a resource worth adding to your playlist. Read my latest blog to learn more about the show.

This month’s Student Spotlight feels especially meaningful.

As part of the Petroleum Extension - PETEX at The University of Texas at Austin Professional Land Management Certificate Program, students are challenged to connect classroom learning with real-world experience. Recent graduate and landman Daniel Parker did just that by sitting down with Peter Scott—a Denver-based landman with more than 40 years of experience and owner of Land Rights Services.

In this conversation, Peter shares hard-earned wisdom on integrity, communication, stewardship of the land, and the responsibility landmen carry as the industry’s front line. It’s a powerful reminder—especially this time of year—of the value of mentorship and passing knowledge from one generation to the next.
