🎉 Happy Boss’s Day to our fearless leader, Robert Swint! 🎉

In 1974, Robert founded ATA Associates, Inc. with a vision of providing attorneys with expert legal support through accident reconstruction. Before that, his career took him to NASA, where he was part of the Apollo 13 Mission Operations Team and was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his contributions to the mission.

To say we have some big footsteps to follow would be an understatement! 👣

More than 50 years, 7,000+ cases, and countless milestones later, ATA Associates continues to move forward with the same dedication and momentum that started it all.

A commercial tire failure is often described as a sudden blowout, an unforeseeable event. The physical evidence usually tells a different story.

Underinflation, overloading, worn casings, improper repairs, and heat-induced separation leave distinct signatures on a failed tire. Inspecting and testing them determines whether the failure was truly sudden, or the predictable result of condition and maintenance that went unaddressed. That distinction frequently shifts the inquiry from the driver to the parties responsible for the vehicle's upkeep.

Once a petrochemical incident is contained, a more difficult question follows: is the surrounding equipment sound enough to return to service? Restarting too soon invites a second event. Restarting too late carries its own consequences. Neither decision should rest on assumption.

Fitness-for-service evaluation answers that question with engineering rigor — assessing mechanical damage, material condition, and remaining integrity to determine what can safely return to operation and what cannot. It is a judgment that must be defensible not only operationally, but in any litigation or regulatory review that follows.

Aviation is a heavily documented environment— ground radar tracking, flight data, maintenance logs, component histories, and regulatory records all leave a trail. That documentation makes rigorous analysis possible, and it makes unsupported conclusions easy to challenge.

Whether the question involves a mechanical failure, a systems malfunction, a maintenance issue, or operator error, the answer has to reconcile with the recorded data and the physical evidence together. In aviation matters, an opinion that doesn't account for both will not survive scrutiny.

Tomorrow is National Seat Check Saturday. This is an annual event spearheaded by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to encourage parents and caregivers to have their child’s car seat inspected by certified technicians to ensure it is correctly installed and used for maximum safety.
