Nigeria International Pipeline Technology & Security Conference 2022 ended on an excellent note on December 2 with all speakers and participants agreeing that predictive and proactive maintenance remains crucial in upkeeping our pipeline system. It is also important to continue to deploy new and tested technologies, empower skills in Nigeria and enhance the use of control room in monitoring activities. As IOCs continue to divest, avenues for attracting FDI and investment for local operators must be developed. It is imperative for policy makers to critically look into the investment environment and also ways to continue to enhance security. Boosting Efficiency and eradicating the problems of force majeure which negatively affects contracts and commercial obligations should be considered as paramount. The need to respect and uphold the sanctity of contracts were considered crucial.

As the global trend for energy transition continues to roar amid the quest for climate change and decarbonization, Africa readies to position itself for this paradigm shift in global perspective of the oil and gas industry. While the new clamor from industry experts remain that Africa as most developing economies should be given fossil fuel space to advance its economy and catch up with developed economies through investments, project funding, technologies, digitalization and manpower development, there is also a new call that Africa, especially Sub-Saharan Africa should tap into the surging gas economy and develop its gas assets as the global demand increases.
