In Memory of Dr. Zaki Husain

With deep sadness, PETEX shares the news of the unexpected passing of Dr. Zaki Husain, a valued instructor and respected leader in oil and gas measurement.

At our Houston Training Center, Dr. Husain taught courses in natural gas measurement, electronic flow measurement, pipeline design, and advanced petroleum measurement. He brought decades of industry experience with companies including Chevron and Halliburton, along with a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston.

His influence reached well beyond the classroom. He chaired standards committees for API, ASME, and ISO, helping shape the measurement practices the industry relies on today, and received the Laurence Reid Award for lifetime contributions to the field.

Those who knew him will remember his generosity with his knowledge and his curiosity about the world. He traveled to more than 45 countries and loved film and a good game of bridge.

Our thoughts are with Dr. Husain's family, friends, colleagues, and the many students whose careers he helped shape. His legacy lives on in the standards he helped build and the professionals he taught.
