Happy New Year everyone!!! 2013 is underway and the first week has been hectic, but in a good way. Just renewed the office space for another year and working on insurance renewals. A couple of last year's larger projects are under construction, pictures will be coming. Three projects will be going in for permitting, got a couple of new projects that should be kicking off this week and putting the final touches on bids to get work with HISD and UTMB.

It's the last month of the year and I was anticipating a slow end, but December has gotten off to a very fast start. The first few days have brought about a conference, 3 new projects, 4 new potential projects, and wrapping up 3 current projects. Hopefully this is just a precursor for 2013.

After 6 months, the METRO project finally got approval from the City of Houston to begin construction. Learned many valuable lessons along the way about working in the public sector so the next time should be much smoother. No time to celebrate however as deadlines loom for an apartment remodel, steakhouse and church remodel.

Today is my company's 3rd anniversary. In some ways its hard to believe and others feels like so much longer. As I reflect on the past year, there were definitely highlights and challenges. Among the highlights are being accepted to and completing the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program, obtaining the first public sector contract, traveling to DC to explore international project opportunities, doubling my client base and simply finishing 3 years in a very slow economy. Some of the challenges have been steadying cash flow, diplomatically handling difficult clients and generating more business.

All in all, I am proud of my company's first 3 years. I am even more thankful for the people who support and encourage me; specifically those who help behind the scenes, doing design work, administrative tasks or helping me with my people skills. Thanks again.

Another week in the books and its been a good one. Completed 5 projects, got another permitted and submitted 3 proposals for new projects. Looking forward to getting started on a number of projects for a Fortune 500 company next week.

Attended the Business Owner Success Summit (BOSS) at Portia Haggerty's office and learned about various financing options for businesses, both conventional and unconventional. The information was great, and even better are the potential expansion ideas that could result in serious growth.

After a relatively quiet couple of weeks, things have suddenly kicked into overdrive. Have been awarded 3 new projects of a pretty substantial scope and have a few others pending.

The first half of 2012 is wrapping up quite nicely. Looking forward to finishing out the rest of the year even stronger.

It's been a very hectic couple of weeks. From the WBEA Conference to Doing Business with HEB to Business Matchmaking with large business, there hasn't been too much down time lately.

Got a wonderful compliment from the guys at METRO this morning. They are pleased with the quality and professionalism of our work. Comments like that just make the tougher times a little easier to deal with.
