KDW just broke ground on Stephen F. Austin State University’s Lumberjack Crossing.

The new four-story, 96,950 SF residence hall will be home to about 336 students. The building is designed around community. Three student lounges and nine study rooms give residents places to gather and work beyond their own rooms.

Lumberjack Crossing joins more than 20 projects KDW has delivered on SFA’s campus. Thank you to Stephen F. Austin State University, The University of Texas System, Project Control & PC Sports, and our design partner Kirksey | Architecture. We look forward to welcoming Lumberjacks in 2028.

KDW is serving as the design-builder for a new food manufacturing and processing facility in Temple, Texas, and construction is officially underway. Last week, the team completed a 1,200 CY concrete pour covering 49,500 SF.

The nearly 155,000 SF campus will bring refining, production, and distribution together on one site. It will include:
▸ Refinery and Tank Farm
▸ Warehouse
▸ Packaging Area
▸ Office Building and Lean-To Areas

Progress continues on LT Foods' new 156,000 SF food distribution facility. Since our last update, crews have completed 100% of the tilt wall and steel er****on, giving the building its full structural shape.

Site paving is now underway, with approximately 1,100 CY poured last week. Next up, crews will begin B deck installation and framing for mechanical equipment, followed by interior wall framing layout in the coming weeks.

As the structure comes together, the project remains on track for completion on schedule in Q1 2027.

Construction is underway on Lower Kirby Business Park in Pearland.

KDW recently joined Welcome Group, LLC and Thorpe Plant Services, Inc. on site to mark the start of the 25-acre industrial campus. As general contractor, our team is building four tilt-wall buildings totaling 250,450 square feet of Class A industrial space, with clear heights up to 34 feet, 3,000-amp power and 20-ton crane-ready capabilities.

Thorpe, the first tenant, will occupy an 87,450-square-foot building, where it will combine its manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, warehousing and field services support under one roof.

Delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2027.

We are back at the Pine Cove Campgrounds! 🌲

Our partnership with Pine Cove started with The Ridge, a 40-acre expansion KDW designed and built for high school-aged campers. Since then, we’ve returned again and again: camper, staff, and nurse cabins, two sports courts, restroom additions, a camp store, and the infrastructure for a FlowRider surfing attraction.

Now we’re building a new cabin for campers who stay on site for two full weeks. When camp lasts that long, the cabin becomes home. The 13,262 SF, two-story cabin includes eight bunk rooms that each sleep four EIGHT campers, and every bunk room has its own bathroom with two showers and two restrooms. A multipurpose room gives campers space to gather for events, a breakroom and kitchen offer a place to refuel, and a wraparound porch connects it all to the outdoors.

The building is wood framed with structural floor joists, roof trusses, and a metal roof. Construction began in late August, and the cabin is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

Camp clients aren’t just building facilities. They’re building programs that shape young lives, and we’re grateful to keep being part of Pine Cove’s mission.

Waller EDC is celebrating Manufacturing Month throughout October, and KDW is proud to be a co-Champion Sponsor alongside Welcome Group, LLC!

At this morning’s breakfast, Waller ISD Superintendent Bennie Mayes walked through the current and projected growth happening across the district and county:

- Enrollment grew 40.6% from 2019 to 2025, the 2nd highest percent growth among roughly 50 Region 4 districts
- The district’s 10,869 students are projected to grow to more than 39,000 by 2035-36
- The district’s population grew by more than 15,000 residents from 2019 to 2024
- Nearly 76,000 new housing occupancies are projected over the next decade

Growth at this pace brings new families, and with them new demand for schools, homes, and infrastructure, and the manufacturing and industrial facilities that create local jobs.

As a design-build firm with a long history of building for manufacturers in Waller County, we’re watching Waller closely and looking forward to helping build the future. spaces this growth will need.
