The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) lowered its Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) forecasts for 2023 in its latest short term energy outlook (STEO), which was released this week.

According to the March STEO, the EIA now sees the Brent spot price averaging $82.95 per barrel and the WTI spot price averaging $77.10 per barrel this year.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration lowered its Brent and West Texas Intermediate oil price forecasts for 2023.

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities announced Monday it is accepting applications for the state’s third solicitation, with a goal of adding between 1.2 GW and 4 GW of offshore wind capacity.

The application window will be open until June 23. In two previous solicitations, New Jersey awarded contracts for three that would bring 3.75 GW to the state’s grid.

The commercial building sector is showing a growing interest in efficiency, demand response and technologies that can help manage bills and reduce carbon emissions, according to a survey published in February by GridPoint.

A new generation of grid-interactive buildings are “able to drive energy efficiency, go after system peaks or their own building peaks and provide relief to the grid,” Rachel Marcus, demand response program manager at GridPoint, said in an interview.

Almost 80% of respondents reported energy cost increases in the last 12-24 months and 99% said they were concerned about the issue.

Efficiency standards for distribution transformers were last updated in 2013, but conservation advocates say that change required only small improvements.

“Most transformers today use outdated technology that wastes electricity before it even gets to our homes and businesses,” Andrew deLaski, executive director of the Appliance Standards Awareness Project, said in a statement.
