In 2025, there’s a good chance you’ve heard the term “exosomes.” While the interest around them continues to grow, it’s important to remember that exosomes are not just a trend and that they’re a well-established area of scientific study.

Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles (30–150 nm) secreted by most cell types, playing a critical role in intercellular communication. They carry bioactive molecules, including proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids (e.g., mRNA, miRNA), which influence physiological and pathological processes of recipient cells.
