As temperatures begin rising across Houston, construction crews are preparing for another intense summer on the jobsite. Heat-related illnesses can escalate quickly, especially in the Texas humidity, making proactive safety measures critical for every project team.

A few reminders as we head into the hotter months:
☀️ Start hydration before the workday begins — not after symptoms appear and do not consume energy drinks
☀️ Schedule water breaks frequently and encourage crews to speak up early if they feel overheated
☀️ Use shaded or cooled recovery areas whenever possible
☀️ Rotate physically demanding tasks during peak afternoon heat
☀️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke in coworkers
☀️ Ensure new employees and returning workers have time to acclimate to high temperatures
☀️ Safety is everyone’s responsibility — looking out for each other matters

Productivity is important, but protecting the people building our communities comes first.

We're proud to celebrate the completion of the Caney Creek Transportation Center for Conroe Independent School District, delivered in partnership with PBK Architects. The project included expanded office space, additional parking, new bus service bays, and a new bus wash facility, all while maintaining operations on an occupied transportation campus serving staff and students year-round.

Thank you to Conroe ISD, PBK Architects, and our project team for their collaboration in creating a facility that will serve the community for years to come.

Safety is more than a requirement—it's a commitment we make to each other every day.

This week, our team gathered at the Kingsland Baptist Church project for a Fall Protection Safety Standdown focused on recognizing hazards, proper equipment use, and reinforcing safe work practices when working at heights.

These conversations provide an opportunity to pause, learn, ask questions, and ensure every team member has the knowledge and resources needed to work safely.

Big things are happening at Conroe Independent School District's future Agriculture Barn! This 32,000 SF facility is being built to give CISD students hands-on experience through the FFA Agricultural program, featuring 116 small animal pens, 64 large animal pens, CMU storage spaces, and a fully sprinklered PEMB structure designed to support the next generation of agricultural leaders. We’re excited to see this project continue taking shape and proud to help build a space where students can learn, grow, and thrive for years to come.

Back in 2008, Team Brookstone Construction completed a multi-phase project for The Council on Recovery, creating spaces that have supported thousands of Houstonians on their path to recovery and growth.

Years later, we were honored to return alongside Kevin Story at Story Architects to renovate the auditorium, lobby, and support spaces as the facility continues expanding its impact across Texas.
