In 1995, a major oil & gas operator recognized that it could significantly lower lifting costs if the high intervention costs and long periods of lost production (due to seasonal access) caused by premature ESP pump failures co

uld be reduced or eliminated. The technology was deployed in 1997, and other operators in the region adopted it as well, proof of its value. After outstanding results with the initial system, the concept was extended to the development of a ‘fully retrievable’ ESP system, both pump and motor, while retaining full bore access to the reservoir below. AccessESP became the partner for this collaboration, primarily due to its strong track record of developing technology and the capabilities of its unique permanent magnet motor. The continuous participation of major operators in the development of the AccessESP system has it meeting their unique requirements, for example 4.5” tubing, live well intervention, and barrier policies.
