The Air Conditioning need to be tuned to operate efficient.
We need to know
1- if there is enough refrigerant in the system.
2- the air filter is clean ?
3- check the ducts in the attic for broken duct , to see if they are leaking cool air in to your attic.
4- check your outside unit to see if free of debris.
5- check your thermostat by putting a thermometer next to it an look to see if they both reading the same temperature
6- check the drain line to see if it is not clogged.
7- and if you can do any of these check up call me and I be happy to either help you do it or do it myself.

More you know about your AC less you get ripped off by AC companies.
Check to see if the AC company are licensed or they have a location or how long they are in business.
3 importants : License,
Year in business
Location.
Need to have all three.

Summer is coming soon and checking/tuning the air conditioning system is a Must.
Some you can do yourself;
1- Air filter checking
2- Cleaning around the outside unit, all those unwanted grass growing next to the unit need to be cut.
3- Black plastic pipe covering the copper line should be good.
4- Small thermostat wire at the unit outside should not be dry to break.
5- in your attic look at all ducts to see if any of them broken and loosing air. When your ac is running your attic temp should not be cooler than outside, if it is then there is an air leak.
6- there is a tray under the unit in the attic, that tray should be dry. If it is wet , it needs to be checked by an air conditioning person.
7- turn your ac on and let it run for 1/2 hours , then check the air temp coming out of the vent verses air temp going in to the air filter.
The different should be between 15 and 20 or higher. If it is not, it needs to be checked by an ac person.
I hope this would help any one who needs it and beware of inexperienced person to tell you other ways .

Hello every one,
We are getting close to warm weather and most Air Conditioning company make themselves ready to offer a famous 15 point check up. or 20 point check up. Different companies do different number. These number has no value at all. It can be 50 or 40 or anything. But more important is what they are checking and what would they looking for.
This is an old marketing move to gain new customers. While most companies do this for getting new customers and gain revenues honestly, there are some that do this only to make money in any way they can by making false diagnosis or just make up things.
So, as a customer you should look for the signs that rise a red flag. One way to eliminate being fulled by them is to stay with one company that you have worked with in the past and you have experience with them and trust them.

Here are some point you can do yourself.

Thing need to know about your system.
The coil of the outside unit should be clean.
There should not be any thing around the unit outside.
There should not be water dripping from the auxiliary pipe.
The air coming from the top of the outside unit should be warm.
The small copper pipe should not be very hot just a little.
The thicker copper pipe should be little cold.
The air filter inside should be clean.
The thermostat should be cutting on and off when reaches desired temperature.
Attic temperature should not be as your house temperature.
So, if everything is Ok according to the above list you are good to go. If there is any question send it here and you will get an answer.

October and November is the beginning of the season check up for the cold weather.
Costumers should be aware of the companies that try to scare you by making some diagnosis like " your heat exchanger has cracked " so if you hear that you are for a big spend. But you don't have to. Be very careful and research the subject very carefully. If the technician goes in to your attic and come out in less than 15 minutes and tells you that you have heat exchanger problem you should know he is not correct. Why you may ask, the answer is you can not check the heat exchanger in 15 minutes.
Get the second opinion. But also watch the second technician that come to your home. Some of them make their decision base on what the first tech said. You need to ask them to open the unit and show you the pin holes on the heat exchanger. And if you do not get them to do that you need to buy a carbon monoxide detector and put it in the house near the closest air supply to the unit . It would tell you if you have a bad heat exchanger.
