AIR DUCTING

Why is AIR the first word in AIR CONDITIONING, yet the last thing people look at on the system? Air conditioning requires more ducting than a stand alone heating system. Your system should have 200 square inches per ton of return air AND 6 sq in of return air duct for EACH 1000 BTU. Example: 3 Tons (36,000 BTU’s) 20x30 grille (600 sq in) and 6x36 =216 sq in. Closest flex duct size is 18 inches Pi•R2 or 9x9x3.14= 254.34 sq. In.

Do you have an old "Freon-22" system? Freon-22 is being phased out and the price of the Freon-22 is skyrocketing to assist in it's phaseout, BUT WAIT! You old system can be retro-fitted to use R-407c, which is much more environmentally friendly, and wallet friendly also. The time is coming for seasonal A/C Tune up, ask your technician about it.

Most air conditioning manufacturers say to only use water to clean evaporator and condenser coils. Chemical cleanings damage the copper and aluminum and eventually produce leaks.

All of this rain is already causing weak A/C fan motors to go out. Highly recommended to have your Air Conditioning checked out, because Spring has already sprung. When people start using their A/C systems, there are going to be a lot of systems not working properly once the heat starts setting in. Running a unit with a bad fan motor.....then people wonder what killed the compressor and why it going to cost so much to replace it.

SHOCKING NEWS: Building Code has changed for Texas and other Southern United States. You will find that the 13 SEER* Units are no longer manufactured, (they can be installed while in stock) and that the new standard is a 14 SEER* with a cost of several hundred dollars higher.
