The client expressed a strong fondness for cacti. He required repairs on his deck to accommodate his plant collection. A deck was previously constructed using Trex, but the client observed significant warping and bowing within a year.
The root cause of the issue lay in the foundation of the deck. The exterior joists had been fastened to the existing fence instead of being supported by new footings. With joists spaced 24-28 inches apart, only 9 footings were installed to sustain a deck measuring 20 x 32 feet.
H2H undertook the task of dismantling the old deck and constructing a robust foundation to meet all outdoor requirements. The new joists were spaced 12-16 inches apart, with cement footings to support a newly added pergola. Additionally, 4 times more post footings were installed 3-4 feet into the ground, with cement mixed using a machine before installation. Joist tape and flashing were also incorporated. The Trex decking was installed in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines, utilizing hidden clamps to ensure the lifetime warranty remained valid. H2H also installed a pergola purchased by the client.
