Today Richard Keggereis with Chesapeake Bay Runners LLC and I Atchafalaya Aluminum Boats were lucky enough to have Senator Jack Bailey and Mike Hutson with the St. Clement's Hundred stop by to check out the boat.

As a fellow aluminum hull designer, I can say that Cerny Yacht Design really went above and beyond on this cat design. From thinking through the details of the assembly process to including details to help us accurately put it all together, the amount of thought that went into everything before the first piece ever got cut is awesome.

We’re blessed to be able to be a part of this build, and look forward to what opportunities await!

Today Chesapeake Bay Runners LLC and I Atchafalaya Aluminum Boats were able to get the first set of side sheets into place!

For perspective, just those sheets are 20’ long 1/4” thick 5086 aluminum.

This 48’ catamaran landing craft is coming along awesome!

Day 11 of the 18’ wide, 48’ long Catamaran Landing Craft build for the St. Clement's Hundred

We spent the morning fitting the transom on the other sponson, as well as adjusting and checking both of their measurements, lots of angles, and figuring out ways to take the slight pre-existing warpage and roll out of the sheets. Basically fine tuning the fitup from great, to perfect.

Once we were satisfied with the fitups, we continued on the laborious task of taking sheets off pallets, moving those sheets across the shop, and organizing them based on the points in the build process that we’ll need to access them.

All of these pieces were cut from 8’ x 20’ sheets of 5086 either 3/8” or 1/4” thick, so they had some serious weight to them!

We ended up calling it as far as working on the cat earlier than usual, being both Friday as well as our good friend Mike Hutson had some timelapse cameras he needed some help putting up around the shop!

Productive day in all, but not as much visual progress on the hull as normal.
