Baby blue druzy beauty 🩵 Love the contrast of the spherulitic border.

Remember that piece of brecciated jasper I found a couple of months ago that sort of resembled gembone? Well just sent me a video of a cab he cut from one of the slabs, and I couldn’t help but post it right away 🧡 One of the more unique brecciated beauties I have found here on the Northern California Coast

Another recent Humboldt County find with gorgeously intense colors. I am sooo tempted to see how it slabs, but I’m just not sure if I should take it to the saw, because I’m afraid of it crumbling apart. It’s already so beautiful as-is, and I love the way it glows in my rock pile. But man.. can you imagine seeing how it looks polished, and capturing this beauty in some cabochons? Sure would be amazing..

Don’t you love when they’re just sitting pretty like that, practically begging to be noticed? Such a gorgeous piece of jaspagate. Those colors are electric ⚡️

Found this super odd agate nodule in a Humboldt County river the other day. The amoeba patterns are really cool 🦠 Never seen anything like it

A stunning banded dendritic agate from Northern California 🩵
I doubt I’ll find a cooler agate than this one anytime soon.. unless I can get back out there before the heat hits 😉 I may just have to set aside some time to revisit this area when I head back up to PDX soon

Sugar coated crystals 🤤 Sharp dogtooth Calcite crystals overlain with a layer of sparkling druzy Quartz crystals. There were a few little caverns of these, but due to being ill equipped (no wrapping material), I only extracted a handful reference pieces. If I end up finding an abundance of good quality specimens, I may start calling it Sweet Tooth Calcite ✨

Where there’s a will, there’s a way 🪨🪛

Slamming a piece of basalt against a little pry tool was not very effective (or comfortable), but I still managed to pop some purdy nodules and geodes out of the host basalt. Stone Age mining is better than no mining.. but next time I won’t forget to bring a crack hammer & chisel 😅

It was difficult to summon the restraint, but I was able to force myself to leave the tempting higher quality nodules alone. I’ll come back when I am able to extract those properly. Can’t wait, cause these are pretty special, and I think you guys are really going to love em 💓

Spicy little nugget of Trinidad Jasper 🌶️🥵
Sorry for the kinda crappy video. I wasn’t paying attention to the way I was recording.. too fixated on the jasper 😂
