Our secondary level team, Breaking the Loop, decided to try something new (breaking the loop of their long history in DI) and explored the world of Improvisation in a Festival Frenzy. In improv, you do a lot of research before the day and run through scenarios to build teamwork and practice your improvisational skills. On tournament day, you put those things to work when your team is given several Unknown elements. The team actually plans their performance in front of the audience before they make it happen. It's crazy! This loopy crew rocked it.

Jazzy G, a quartet of third graders, learned how to Roll With It in the Engineering Challenge. This challenge has a LOT going on! Before they even get on stage, they have their structure checked in to ensure it meets all of the requirements and limitations, and then while they are on stage, they test the structure while also performing a story, AND those two things need to be integrated with each other. Before today, this team had never placed weights on their structure. We were all impressed it held 165 pounds!

Three young men, The Technical Trio, made a Daring Escape in this year's Technical Challenge. These fourth graders dug in deep and learned a lot about energy, technical methods, and the engineering design process. They are the masters of the prototype!

Rock Star appraisers and Rising Star players, the Early Learning team, "The Cool Kids," showed their most excellent Monster Manners and teamwork - and omigoodness! Those amazing handcrafted monster costumes and house! You have graduated to the next level. See you on the competitive stage next year!

Thanks to Minnesota Destination Imagination, our teams were able to participate virtually through the magic of Zoom. Erik was our guide on this end; Lynn was managing the appraisers on the MN end. Together with the kids, they made magic. Thank you to everyone for both your hard work and ingenuity and your incredible patience and resilience!

Whew! It's been a journey this year, but our teams will finally take the stage Saturday. The weather will not stop us. Can't wait to see what they've created! 🧡💜

The long winter will be coming to an end, and the only way to guarantee spring arrives is if you place your spring flower order from Northern Cass DI! Geraniums, spikes, vinca vines, and a variety of bedding plants are all on sale again this year. NEW in the catalog are Coral Geraniums.

We are taking orders online this year through April 30. Plants will be delivered in mid-May.

Destination Imagination has been assigned to work concessions a boys basketball game this year. This will be a very good fund raiser for our teams. We are playing Kindred, so it could be busy busy busy that night, soooo... We will need several workers over three shifts on January 4. We need workers....
