The June Harless Center Pumpkin Drop returns October 2!

Students are invited to put their engineering skills to the test by designing a device to protect a pumpkin during a 10-story drop from a Huntington Fire Department tower ladder.

The Pumpkin Drop is part of the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center’s WV Makes Festival. Pumpkin Drop participants must also be registered for the WV Makes Festival.

Record enrollment, rising industry demand and big opportunities ahead; fall 2026 is off to a powerful start at the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center. We’re welcoming 72 new machinist, welding and SMART students across Huntington, South Charleston and Point Pleasant, all training for high‑demand, high‑wage careers. With nearly 7,000 skilled manufacturing workers needed in our region over the next three years, these students are stepping directly into opportunity.
