In Old Town Huntsville we’ve got the trucks and trailers lining the road today with a full workforce. We have 200 year old heart pine hardwood floors going down in the additions.

Trim carpenters nailing into place interior trims as we await the beautifully crafted doors that replicate the existing ones.

Last but not least the tile has arrived and it now being placed so installation can begin.

Got Justin alongside me orchestrating a amazing transformation on this circa 1853 home and the others underway. “teamwork makes the dream work!”

Down here in Southeast Huntsville I’ve got one of the most experienced framing crews in Huntsville. Led by 67 year old Mike M. and his crew of six is working like a crew of twelve.

But more importantly the precision of the work reflects years of experience.

As I’ve mentioned before blending the methods of construction being used is Ol’school mixed with new pre-engineered products. It’s the best of both worlds and we are bringing it across all trades.

Again, this is our first new home we’ve built (well some on a existing foundation) in over 30 years and I could not be more excited. I love our additions and remodels, but this was the new construction that that started my career almost 49 years ago!

You know I’ve mentioned we haven’t built a new home in over 25 years, but we’ve remodeled and made many additions over that time to houses that became new homes to families.

In Southeast Huntsville we currently have a home that we took down to the foundation for various code and structural issues. It dawned on me a couple of weeks ago that we’re building a actual new home, and to say I’m excited is a understatement!

In doing so we are bringing a lot of Ol’school with new school construction like this garage apron, troweled contraction joints and expansion joints around the walls. Attention to detail in the girder support system, using ol’school techniques with today’s pre engineered LVL beams and attaching over 300 joist hangers to them.

We support longtime Huntsville Home Builder, Steve Steele as he navigates a difficult time. Steve has been a fellow builder and friend for many years. I put this out here so anyother people with ties to Steve know about this effort. - Mike

In order to alleviate some of the daily burdens of meal planning and prep, we are starting a MealTrain for Steve as he is going through Cancer treatments. Steve's cancer has spread into his bones and his pain is significantly increasing by the day. By providing a meal, this will allow Steve to focus...

You saw this home come down piece by piece to the bare foundations. We’ve added square feet all around, made the foundation bigger and better. Concrete garage slabs poured and we are laying that big beautiful floor system into place. We ensured this home would be rock solid with pre-engineered beams, large 2x10 floor joist and joist hangers all around.

I know, that doesn’t sound interesting or sexy but we’re building more than a new house here, we are building a home that our two wonderful clients have been dreaming about for years.

We feel fortunate to work with great clients like them and so many others over the past years. Well to be precise, the last forty-eight years.

And you know what? I’m still so excited to see something like this floor system come together exactly as planned. Thankful for these two great folks that have entrusted us with their new home! - Thanks for following our page. Mike

Milestones in construction are important and we reached another with the home in North Huntsville. Yep, we sailed through all inspections without a hitch, have insulated and expect drywall to arrive Monday and install on Tuesday. Watch our page for updates on this 60’s generational home that’s coming back to life!

I find our past to be fascinating. The growth of Huntsville is not new. If you live in Huntsville did you know there used to be the airport on Airport Road, west of the parkway? Huntsville has changed a lot over the years!
