Thinking about attending a U.S. service academy?

We're proud to welcome Senator Katie Britt's Service Academy Event to our campus on Tuesday, October 20, from 6–8 PM!

High school students and their families are invited to meet representatives from all five service academies, ask questions, and learn more about admissions, eligibility requirements, and the application process.

The event is open to the community, and no registration is needed. We hope to see you there!

The conversation about the future of education and the workforce extends well beyond Alabama!

ASCTE President Matt Massey and CTO Chase Golden recently joined education and industry leaders in Greenville, South Carolina, for the Upstate Talent Forum. Mr. Massey participated in a panel discussion titled "Human Potential in an AI Economy: Preparing the Southeast for the Next Era of Talent."

The discussion centered on technology, artificial intelligence, and how education can prepare students for a changing workforce. It's a conversation that connects directly to ASCTE's mission and the work happening on our campus every day.

We're proud to see ASCTE contributing to these conversations across the Southeast.

Three class periods of projectile motion led to this: Pirate Lab. 🏴‍☠️💥

Our juniors and Team 2 seniors in 400-level Physics started by learning the concepts, then measured the launch velocities of their marble “cannons” and used different angles to calculate how far they could fire.

Then it was time to put those calculations to work.

With opposing ships constantly changing positions, students had to take new measurements, recalculate, and adjust their launch angle and velocity in real time.

And because apparently physics wasn’t competitive enough, alliances were allowed. They were made. They were broken. Ships went down.

In the end, there could only be one. 🏴‍☠️

Not a bad way to put projectile motion to the test.

We’re only a couple of months into the school year, but our Sentinels are already showing what it means to lead by example.

Each week, a different faculty department recognizes five students, one for demonstrating each of ASCTE’s Core Values: Honor, Kindness, Tenacity, Integrity, and Joy.

That means 35 students were recognized during August and September for putting those values into action throughout our school community.

We’re looking for someone who can make a difference in our students’ lives long after the school day ends.

ASCTE is hiring a live-in Dorm Parent to work with high school students from across Alabama. It’s a role built around relationships: mentoring students, helping them develop independence, creating a sense of community, and making sure our residential students have a safe and supportive place to call home.

The position includes on-campus housing, meals while working, and job-related experiences and activities.

We could not be more excited to bring our Board of Trustees together for the first meeting of the 2026-27 school year.

ASCTE is fortunate to have leaders from across Alabama who give their time and expertise to help guide our school. Their work touches on what is happening on campus today, but it also helps us think more broadly about where ASCTE is headed and how we can continue to serve students and educators across the state.

We’re grateful to have them at the table and looking forward to the year ahead.

Special thanks to Board member Rebekah Elgin-Council and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama for hosting us at their incredible headquarters.
