To the Madison County community:

For years, you trusted us with your homes, your businesses, and your safety. Thank you. That is exactly what fostered our growth into this new adventure.

After years pulling wire, I’m stepping into a new role. I have relocated to West Texas to train the next generation of commercial electricians and scale the parent company, Rambam's Ladder.

Huntsville Wire and Home is no longer taking local service calls. I’m leaving the website up so you can still access the 200+ articles and field guides, but my days of residential service in Alabama are done. I genuinely appreciate every single one of you who hired me and supported the business over the years. Onward.

Madison County: We are clearing out your electrical to-do list this weekend to support local kids entering the trades. 🛠️

From today until Monday the 29th, Tyler and I are running a "Wire & Give" sprint.

The goal is simple: We provide the commercial-grade labor, you buy the parts, and together we fund K-Tech—a local non-profit called Kids to Love program right here in our area that trains foster youth for careers in the electrical trades. [read more at: https://kidstolove.org/ktech/ ]

If you have a ceiling fan, a Ring camera, or smart switches sitting in a box, we are running zero-markup, flat-rate installs to clear your punch list. Even better: If you make a $25 online donation to K-Tech while we are at your house, we knock $25 off the labor bill.

The Weekend Flat Rates (With your K-Tech Donation):

Ceiling Fan / Chandelier Swaps: $125 (You supply the fixture)

Ring Camera / Floodlight Installs: $125 (You supply the camera)

Smart Switch / Dimmer Upgrades: $75 for the each

The "Ghost Hunt" Diagnostic: $175 flat rate to track down exactly why a breaker keeps tripping or an outlet died.

We are booking slots through Monday evening. If your house has a lingering electrical headache, let's get it safe, get it finished, and get a kid's future funded.

Is a whole-house surge protector worth the money? As an electrician, I’ll tell you straight: it depends on your panel setup, service conditions, and what you’re protecting—because “one-size-fits-all” kits aren’t the point. In the Huntsville metro area, voltage spikes happen, and the right device can help guard appliances and electronics without guessing. If you’re weighing options for an older home, a remodel, or adding big loads like an EV charger or hot tub, this breaks down what actually matters.
